LUKE and SYLVIA are the very models of modern individuals in a metropolitan relationship. Enter ELENA and RONALD, the free spirited polyamorous couple who are hellbent on getting LUKE and SYLVIA into bed. A fun slice of liberal San Francisco life told as a sex comedy, but much more sophisticated than a bedroom farce, YES, WE’RE OPEN throws our unlikely heroes Luke and Sylvia into a hotbed of sex,...

Chaos: To PoC or not to PoC, that is the... →
I couldn’t agree more, on all counts. And…yeah, don’t even get me started on #occupy. Talk about problematic terms and privilege. Sheesh.

I guess I should say that I do find a few instances where the phrase is appropriate. What I failed to mention in my response, though, is that I’ve been in too many spaces where the term is employed in ways that really...

To PoC or not to PoC, that is the question...
Yes, thank you for such a comprehensive response. I actually struggled to define “people of color” in a concise way, recognizing that it did rely upon whiteness as a mirror. And yet, while I agree with most of what you’re saying, I do find some utility in the term, just in that I feel unity amongst those who struggle under white oppression is important. Of vital importance.

Why Asking PoC to "Explain" is a Problem →
racismschool:
Entitlement. Although you think you have it. You do not. You don’t need an innate understand of my struggle. You need to acknowledge that there is a struggle. You do not need to walk in my shoes to know that there are holes in them. The reason it’s hard for you to see this as a problem is because you don’t have it. You are represented in each and every aspect of your life,...

I’m sure every white person and their brother knows by now, if you say the n-word, you will be immediately be pegged as racist and be side-eyed for the rest of your natural life by even other racist white people.
But did you know that there are things you can say that AREN’T racial slurs that can make you racist?
I know. Shocker.
We’ll go over some of those phrases...

At the beginning of the current WoW expansion, monkeys were added to the classes of animals the Hunter class could tame and use for combat pets. I am not exaggerating when I say that I was putting in report tickets near daily, I saw so many Hunters running around with monkeys named after either famous black people or what they believed to be “black names” (“Laquisha”, etc)....

A Real Superman Would Be A Supervillain
Blocky-Sheep in response to 5 Essential Superhero Redesigns:
Changing the origin story and the costume does not change the fact that he’s basically a shiny happy face on white supremacy. If he were really from a morally advanced civilization, he’d be a villain in our society. There’s no way a morally advanced being looks at the prison industrial complex and doesn’t tear it down.
That’s not what...

A portrait of an African American woman in Victorian fashion. My guess is that this photograph was taken sometime in the 1860s when necklines rose and the bustle was more noticeable. Fashion historians have also observed that skirt fronts flattened out (also drawing more attention to the…

A Message From Troy Davis
I want to thank all of you for your efforts and dedication to Human Rights and Human Kindness, in the past year I have experienced such emotion, joy, sadness and never ending faith. It is because of all of you that I am alive today, as I look at my sister Martina I am marveled by the love she has for me and of course I worry about her and her health, but as she tells me she is the eldest and she...
